While tucking in our shirts and taming our hair in the daily drill of getting ready for work, we tuck in and tame something deep within us too – our authentic selves. We un-crease our forehead, put on an armor of polite amicability and go about our day with a carefully crafted cover on. I did it. I buried rather than shared thinking it was a sign of maturity. Thank god then I discovered a counter narrative as a young adult. One informed by the magic of learning Psychology and doing Theatre. The one that gave me courage to transform my suppression and judgement into curiosity, expression and self – inquiry. It Is these two subjects that saved me, it is a combination of these two worlds that I bring to my clients in therapy and my participants in workshops.
I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology and have certifications in Neuro Linguistic Programming ,Cognitive Analytic Therapy as well as Expressive Arts Therapy and Experiential Learning. My work is rooted in the experiential methodology and Jungian theory.
For more than a decade I have worked with people across ages and diverse communities to facilitate spaces of well – being, awareness and connection. Currently apart from running a private practice as a Psychotherapist, I am the co – founder of Achaar collective. We are community of applied arts practitioners who design retreats and workshops to honour the importance of the irrational, the emotional, the mad and the inquisitve!
Apart from spending my years working as a Psychotherapist, I continue to actively engage with theatre and have been a steady witness to the power of drama, play & body-driven insight creation.
